Non-Healthcare Provider CPR/AED Certification & First-Aid Courses

Intended Audience: Persons assigned to respond to emergencies in the workplace or community as well as those who want to learn first aid, CPR and AED skills. Some rescuers are required to take this course as part of their employer's efforts to comply with OSHA regulations, e.g., corporate employees, security guards, airline personnel, lifeguards and other individuals who want or need first aid training. These courses can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. Not intended for healthcare professionals.

Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED Online:

The Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED Online Course is a blended learning course designed to teach students the cognitive information needed for First aid, CPR, and AED training. Upon successful completion of both the online and hands-on portions of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. For students working with children, the optional child and infant modules should be completed.

Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED Online

 

Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED Hands-On Skills Session:

Course Fee $50.00

All students will need to have completed the online eLearning portion of this course. Use the link to complete the online Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED Online portion. Students should print out and bring proof of having successfully completed the online portion of the course with them to the scheduled Skills Session with an AHA instructor.

After completing the eLearning component, students will attend a structured Instructor-led course that focuses on the hands-on skills practice and skills testing. Students must attend the hands-on skills portion of the course that is required for final completion and for issuance of a valid Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED Certification Card. During the Skills Session, students will practice First Aid/CPR and check-off on the manikins. The required barrier device and training kit is provided for the student to use during training and keep following the class. The cost of the Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED Skills Session is $50.00.

 

Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED Full Course:

Course Fee $80.00

The Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AE Full Course, provides the skills to effectively assess and maintain life from the critical minutes immediately following an emergency until the arrival of emergency medical services personnel. The course also provides corporations with a complete health and safety training solution for First Aid, CPR and AED.

 

Upon successful completion of both the online and hands-on portions of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years.

At the end of the Heartsaver CPR AED Course, students will be able to:

  • Describe how high-quality CPR improves survival
  • Explain the concepts of the Chain of Survival
  • Recognize when someone needs CPR
  • Perform high-quality CPR for an adult
  • Describe how to perform CPR with help from others
  • Give effective breaths by using mouth-to-mouth or a mask for all age groups
  • Demonstrate how to use an AED on an adult
  • Perform high-quality CPR for a child*
  • Demonstrate how to use an AED on a child*
  • Perform high-quality CPR for an infant*
  • Describe when and how to help a choking adult or child
  • Demonstrate how to help a choking infant*
*Child and infant modules are optional.

At the end of the Heartsaver First Aid Course, students will be able to
  • List the priorities, roles, and responsibilities of first aid rescuers
  • Describe the key steps in first aid
  • Remove protective gloves
  • Find the problem
  • Describe the assessment and first aid actions for the following life-threatening conditions: heart attack, difficulty breathing, choking, severe bleeding, shock, and stroke
  • Use an epinephrine pen
  • Control bleeding and bandaging
  • Recognize elements of common injuries
  • Recognize elements of common illnesses
  • Describe how to find information on preventing illness and injury
  • Recognize the legal questions that apply to first aid rescuers
At the end of the Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course, students will be able to do all of the above.
